How could we optimize Alianza Team’s logistics operation in serving retail channels by improving route planning, load consolidation, and distribution patterns, in a way that reduces inefficiencies such as low-occupancy trips or fragmented deliveries to the same customer, thereby strengthening logistics efficiency and the value proposition toward the retail channel?
Context and relevance
Serving different retail channels —including those with highly efficient operating dynamics— requires highly efficient logistics operations, with high compliance levels, agile replenishment, and optimal use of transport capacity. In this context, there is an opportunity to optimize different aspects of the current logistics operation —such as route planning, load consolidation, and distribution patterns— to improve service efficiency toward these channels.
In particular, optimizing these elements would help reduce operational inefficiencies such as low-occupancy trips or multiple deliveries to the same customer, strengthening logistics efficiency and the value proposition toward the retail channel. There is also a relevant opportunity to evolve the current reverse logistics and returnability schemes, progressively migrating from intensive use of corrugated cardboard toward returnable solutions that leverage the flows already established with the customer.
Scope
The scouting process will seek to identify solutions that improve the efficiency of the logistics operation in serving the retail channel, prioritizing solutions with impact on one or more of the following areas:
1. Route optimization and delivery planning
- Planning and optimization of distribution routes
- Reduction of low-occupancy trips or fragmented deliveries to the same customer
2. Load consolidation and transport capacity utilization
- Improved load consolidation to maximize transport capacity utilization
- Optimized vehicle and route assignment based on volume and destination
3. Agile replenishment models
- Replenishment models that reduce stockouts
- Improved product availability at hard discount channel delivery points
4. Reverse logistics and returns management
- Progressive migration from intensive use of corrugated cardboard toward returnable solutions (crates, reusable trays), leveraging the reverse logistics flows already established with the customer
- Optimization of returns and packaging take-back processes from the hard discount channel
Solver profile
We are looking for companies of diverse nature that can contribute innovative solutions in the field of logistics operations, including startups, scale-ups, large corporations, technology providers, logistics operators, and specialists in returnability and reverse logistics solutions.
Geographically, the search will focus on Colombia and Latin America, complemented with solutions from the United States (especially in hard discount models). However, the search is global, and solutions from other regions are not excluded as long as they are applicable to the target market.
Priority will be given to solvers that meet the following characteristics:
Solutions already developed or at advanced stages (high TRL)
Market-ready technologies, with prior implementations or validations in similar logistics operations
Fast implementation capability (oriented toward short-term pilot/MVP)
B2B models applicable to logistics operations in the food and consumer goods industry
